![]() If you are a Final Fantasy fan, search and browse for Final fantasy content on the net, or like gaming fan art, you've no doubt heard of the popular fan artist, Emily Gregg. Her art was totally sweet, and it was commonly used elsewhere. Her Tifa Lockheart artwork is shown on the banner of VGmusic.com. (now replaced) Her awesomeness will always live on, even if she's gone. I remember her site being all happy and bright and vibrant. Her SD characters were so cute and her comics were hilarious. I even printed out copies of all of them to bring them to my school, for chillin' out and readin'. They were that good. However, as time passed, she started getting more derogatory towards her work and her site started getting darker. Soon enough, it was nothing but symbols linking to sections with small text explaining the sections in very vague detail. Perhaps a stylistic change; I can understand. Her work improved and I liked it alot, but she didn't seem to. At first, the title of her page seemed like just a joke to me (A very pathetic webpage), but after a while I can see she wasn't joking. And that was the end... No warning, no nothing, just a small poem. A poem explaining how she wasn't good at drawing and that no one liked her page. And it made me sad. I was hurt that she thought she was bad. I mean, I looked up to this girl and she puts herself down like that. I wish I coulda let her know, you know, I wasn't just some overobsessed fanboy or something, her art really made me wanna be better and funnier. Just like Christine Cavanaugh, Charlie Adler, and David Eckles are my heroes for getting me into voice acting, such is Emily Gregg. I honestly wouldn't be the artist I am today if not for her inspiration. I promised myself I would let people know that she did that for me, and that I remember her. She made me want to draw again, she gave me the will to keep trying. If it weren't for her I probably would have never even thought of my site in general, having a place to show off my art. Whatever happened to her self-esteem? Now her page is just a blank black mass. That's it. It's sad seeing such a great and influential artist, just... quit. Well, if you haven't already found the point of this whole page, it's to remember Emily Gregg. Maybe it's just for me or maybe it's for everyone else who remembered how cool she was. Little FF7 chibi fanart pictures went a long way back in the day and I know a lot of us remember Emily's groovy art. It was so fun and cool, and I always looked up to her and how good she was, even if she didn't think she was. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
